Kermit King Frogs LEAP!

Kermit King Weekly Updates

Posted Date: 08/09/26 (10:19 AM)

Dear Kermit King Families,

WELCOME to the 2026-2027 School Year!

I am excited to be back and look forward to seeing you on the first day of school, August 13th. The pond has been lively these past few weeks as we prepare to welcome our frogs back!

We hope you can join us for Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, August 12th, starting at 5:00 p.m.

Below is some basic family information, including our school schedule, drop-off and dismissal, Aeries, Parent Square, upcoming events, and PTA.

Drop-off: The first bell will ring at 7:55 a.m., and school will begin at 8:00 a.m. Gates will open at 7:40 a.m. each morning and close at 8:00 a.m. Students will be marked tardy at 8:01 a.m. We will have three gates open in the morning: TK/Kindergarten, the front gate, and the bus loop gate closest to the front of the school.

If you are dropping off your student in the morning and not getting out of your car, you may use the front parking lot; the bus loop gate will be for staff parking and bus drop-off only.  If you are walking your child up to the classroom or gate, please park on the neighborhood streets or the front parking lot to walk your child in.   We will have crossing guards at the intersections of Schoolhouse Circle and Lenox Ct. and Schoolhouse Circle and River Oaks Drive.

School Supplies: All necessary school supplies will be provided for your children. It is helpful if your child brings a backpack, a lunch pail if they choose to bring a home lunch, and a water bottle to school. Many primary teachers have a lunch wagon and a snack bucket. Students typically arrive at school, hang up their backpacks, place their lunch in the wagon, and place their snack in the snack bin if they have one.

Breakfast and Lunch: All students will have the option of a school breakfast and lunch.  Menus will be posted within our Weekly Updates.

Dismissal: Each grade level will be released from the gate closest to its classroom. After the 2:25 dismissal, families may enter campus through the gates to check in with teachers or visit the library (when it opens in a few weeks).

Aeries: Paso Robles Joint Unified uses Aeries, a Student Information System, to manage student information, grades, and emergency contacts. Please ensure your child’s information is correct by logging into the Aeries Parent Portal and completing the Parent Data Confirmation process.  Please complete Parent Data Confirmation by August 10th. We require this to be completed annually to ensure we have the most current information for your child. Please call our school office for assistance at 805-769-1700.

Parent Square: We will continue to use ParentSquare as our messaging system, both district and school-wide. All contact information is pulled from Aeries, so please make sure your child’s Aeries account is correct and updated.

Our first day of school is on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The PTA will sell spirit wear during Meet the Teacher on August 12th and will also be set up to sell for the first two days of school.

2026-2027 PRJUSD Dress Code: Please review the following dress code guidelines for the 2026-2027 school year.  This will be helpful as you prepare your child for the next school year. We will be enforcing these expectations, so please speak with your children about these changes before their return in August. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Parent Volunteers: Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Packet each year; new volunteers must be fingerprinted for field trips. The fingerprinting process will take a few weeks. Once you complete the fingerprint process, you will not have to repeat it.

If you plan to volunteer and/or accompany your student on field trips, I encourage you to complete the process now so you are cleared. Please contact our office for the volunteer packet and details.

New Playground: We're excited to announce that our new play structure is nearing completion! It will be open and ready for student use beginning Monday, August 18th.

Attendance Notifications - EDIA: Starting this year, PRJUSD will be using a program called EDIA for attendance messaging. When your student is absent, you will get a text message from EDIA asking you why your student is out (If you didn't call in before). You can simply text back, and the program will correct the attendance in Aeries.

Just a reminder, you have 72 hours to clear an absence, or your student will be marked as truant.

Student Pick Up: When picking up your student from the main office, please follow these guidelines:

  • All authorized pick-up persons must be listed in Aeries in advance. Only individuals on the student's authorized contact list who are 18 years or older will be permitted to pick up students.

  • Parents: Always bring a valid photo ID when checking out your student.

  • If someone other than a parent is picking up the student:

    • Ensure they are already listed in Aeries before they arrive.

    • The parent must provide written authorization (text message, email, or physical note) to the office.

    • The designated person must bring their valid photo ID.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Go Frogs!
